THE QUOTABLE QUOTE OF THE DAY
It is safe to assume that Edgar Rice Burroughs will always be best remembered as the author of Tarzan Of The Apes, and the creator of its titular hero who has appeared in numerous on screen adaptations, radio broadcasts, and comics. But there’s also no denying how influential his science fantasy works in the form of the Barsoom series has been. Many luminaries of science fiction literature, including Ray Bradbury and Arthur C. Clarke, have cited Burroughs as an influence.
Below is one of my favourite quotes from A Princess Of Mars, the first instalment of the Barsoom series. You may be aware that it was adapted into a big screen Hollywood movie by Disney in 2012 called John Carter.

I do not believe that I am made of the stuff which constitutes heroes, because, in all of the hundreds of instances that my voluntary acts have placed me face to face with death, I cannot recall a single one where any alternative step to that I took occurred to me until many hours later.
A Princess Of Mars
Keep your eyes peeled for a review of A Princess Of Mars in the not to distant future.

Love the book covers (particularly the second and fourth)! Any idea who did the art?

I know the fourth cover was illustrated by Frank E. Schoonover, but I’d have to do some digging to find out about the others.
