The weekend is almost upon us, and those of you who are avid readers are no doubt looking forward to reading yet another book. I wish I had the time and freedom to do so myself, but my 18 month reading slump looks set to continue. Nevertheless, I am able to offer a suggest for a very good novel you could read if you donβt already have one in mind.
My recommendation is the award winning, Jade City, by Fonda Lee (the first book of the Green Bone Saga) which was marketed as The Godfather meets Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon upon its release back in late 2017. While that comparison is rather apt, I would actually describe the story as a fantastical melding of 90s Japanese gangster films, with 70s Chinese Wuxia films. If that combination piques your interest, you will not be disappointed if you get yourself a copy of Jade City this weekend. And now is actually a great time to delve into the Green Bone Saga because the final book of the trilogy is due for publication next month.

Sadly, the pandemic has really derailed my reading. I’ve started several books in the last 18 months, but I haven’t come close to finishing any because I just can’t get my head into the right space to actually absorb what I’m reading.
